OK, that's it, I'm removing Smash Lab from my TiVo Season Passes
 | There's just so many things profoundly wrong with the show |
 | Not only are the hosts so dumb, inexperienced, and naive, but the premise itself betrays their inadequacies much more than Mythbusters would |
| They're not just trying to recreate crazy things, they're trying to implement solutions that might be useful and practical in the real world |
| But their solutions would frequently cost 100 times what the budget for such items would be |
| They fail to see all the real-world engineering issues with their atrocious designs and concepts |
| They apply none of the rigor and thought that would be expected of the simplest of entry-level engineers |
| Their last episode, with the magnetic fire escape elevator, so totally missed the fact that if you have 90 pound people and 350 pound people (a pretty god-damned common situation in a big building), your design will move too fast for the fatties and will not budge for the skinnies |
| And with reprehensible irresponsibility, not once did they lower their audience's expectations for solutions like this by mentioning the extreme cost of rare earth or neodymium magnets, especially in that quantity |
| So next time there's a disaster, some poor building engineer will have to answer to why he didn't implement a safety system more expensive than the building because of this stupid fucking show |
