Dan Reeves is using my big strategy

posted by (W-) on 2003-09-21 15:40:27 [#500]
W-He's got the very expendable, yet talented, Woody Dantlzer running the option

tkurc|homeextreme losing?

W-I wanted to do the same thing with Eric Crouch, who was worthless at any other position
W-The option works in the NFL when used in key situations with fantastically talented QBs who are expendable.

tkurc|homelike roberson?

W-Aye. It should be noted the only touchdown the Falcons scored today, and the only one allowed by TB thus far this season, was an option play, which everyone knew was coming since Dantzler lined up under center

tkurc|homelotsa first round duds lately

W-His work ethic will be his downfall, and the Cincinatti organization doesn't help much

tkurc|homeand the fact that aside from a couple games, he sucked ass at USC

W-Did you see the ESPN bit about Palmer being unable to stretch and hating all the fundamentals drills? It was a few weeks ago... but man, he showed no intention of putting in any work
W-He's no Joey Harrington

tkurc|homethe lions have some athletic QBs

W-Btw, who'll be better in 5 years: Harrington or Carr?

tkurc|homeon one hand, harrington has a proven coach and system that he is well tuned for
tkurc|homeon the other hand, carr has a hot wife
tkurc|homethey will be equally good

W-Whats Harrington's marital status?

tkurc|homesingle, I think

W-What if he procures a more hot wife than Carr?

tkurc|homeshe will be so hot, she will be too bright to look at, and hence useless. CARR WINS

Morrowind makes 25 most overrated games

posted by (tkurc) on 2003-09-16 20:57:04 [#497]
tkurcUnfortunately, this did not prevent the game's freeform gameplay from eventually devolving into one samey errand after another, given by townspeople that all read from the same script.

W-The reviewer must be a simpleton

tkurcWhat I saw was an overwhelmingly large world sorely lacking any sense of cohesiveness with some pretty nasty character models.

W-This is so subjective, its worthless.
W-I'm not going to spend effort to explain what absolute bunk this is.
W-Bottom line: Morrowind is one of the most beautiful, immersive and enjoyable gameworlds I have ever experienced. And the story is the best story ever told in a video game.

posted by (W-) on 2003-09-13 23:59:28 [#492]
W-Ravens favored by 3 over Browns
W-Rams favored by 3 over 49ers
W-Jets by 4 over Dolphins

tkurcdon't forget the O/U of 48 on KC/Pitt

W-Good questions, though: Chiefs by 3 over Steelers? Falcons by 3 over Redskins?
W-Despite the fact thats the highest O/U for this weekend, its still too low

tkurcyes, considering both teams will likely eclipse that mark

W-Packers by 6.5 over Lions is ludicrous as well, Lions have a great chance to win
W-Bills will win by more than 3 over the Jags

tkurcthat will be an interesting game
tkurcTB/CAR is the game I have my eye on

W-I think that game will be a lot closer than 9.5

tkurcso many good games
tkurcnone of which are on national tv

W-Whoa: weird one: Colts are favored by 2.5 over Titans
W-Thats a ridiculous line

tkurctitans suck ass

W-Didn't they beat Oakland last week? Or am I an idiot

tkurcsometimes bad teams win

W-Assuming neither the fragile Kearse, George, or McNair get hurt, thats a much better team than the colts
W-The Colts could only put up 3 field goals against that all-powerful Browns defense :P

tkurcI think vanderjagt put a voodoo curse on manning
tkurcthe colts will ONLY score field goals all season

W-That would be the best thing to happen in the history of mankind.

tkurcbetter than the invention of sex?

W-Yes. The hatred of Manning is more important.
W-Frankly, you can't convince me that animals didn't invent it

tkurcI want one of manning's own teammates to tackle him in frustration

W-A Manning suicide would be a nice touch
W-Or a whole family triocide

tkurclike, they make a circle, reservoir dogs style?

W-Indeed. But knowing that family, they'd probably miss a bunch, then try and audible....

tkurcis there a manning below eli?

W-I'd say by less than 10 though, if I had to speculate on the line

tkurcNebraska O looks pretty bad
tkurcthat Mills is a trooper
tkurcI think PSU is a safe bet

W-Nevetheless, Penn State remains Le' Suck, and Cornhusker Stadium confers a significant advantages
W-Final Score: NEB 18, PSU 10: As I brilliantly predicted, Nebraska won, but by less than the line.

Soundless Music Shown to Produce Weird Sensations

W-What an strange name headline
W-"Mysteriously snuffed out candles, weird sensations and shivers down the spine may not be due to the presence of ghosts in haunted houses but to very low frequency sound that is inaudible to humans"
W-"British scientists have shown in a controlled experiment that the extreme bass sound known as infrasound produces a range of bizarre effects in people including anxiety, extreme sorrow and chills -- supporting popular suggestions of a link between infrasound and strange sensations."

tkurc|homeisn't the word music generally defined as being "audible"?

how much you think the madden coverboy makes?

posted by (tkurc|home) on 2003-09-07 20:25:53 [#482]
tkurc|homemy guess is less than 1 million

W-i'd say $2 mil max

tkurc|homehmmm.. how many copies of madden you think they sell?
tkurc|home5 million?

W-750,000

tkurc|homeits like the best selling game
tkurc|hometoo much interference in google for me to find it

W-games don't go 1 mil+ in sales very often, to my knowledge, but I could be a fool
W-http://biz.yahoo.com/rc/030902/media_electronicarts_1.html
W-news release from 5 days ago, they are 2 million + units sold
W-"EA also said the game was tracking ahead of 2002's performance, a record year for the title."
W-"Deutsche Bank's Patel said sales of "Madden" were tracking to account for 18 percent to 20 percent of the industry's entire sales, on a unit-sold basis, for the month of August, versus 11 percent last year.

tkurc|homethats a lotsa football

W-whats Madden 2004 sell for on the shelf?

tkurc|home$50

W-so lets say EA sells it to the retailers for $30
W-thats $75 mil revenue

W-"In the last twenty years, over 160 million Mario games have been sold. Topping the list, more than 40 million copies of Super Mario Bros. were sold on the NES and 20.6 million copies of Super Mario World on SNES. However, because these games were bundled with console hardware, their sales may not be fairly compared to other games. To this day Super Mario Bros. 3 remains the best-selling video game of all time never bundled with console ha

tkurc|homeit'll sell pretty well for a few more weeks

W-OK, so $100 milion

tkurc|homeat least...

W-Giving Vick 2% of profits isn't much
W-considering what he brings to the brand
W-EA has a tremendous marketing budget

tkurc|homethey could just print madden 2004 on a white box and sell the heck out of it
tkurc|homethis list is awesome
tkurc|homehas the lowest selling games
tkurc|homesome game only sold 11 copies. 11!

W-the developer's moms

tkurc|homeI guarantee I could make a game that sells more that 11 copies

W-they sold it for $30 each, though

tkurc|homeI feel like going out and buying a copy... might be worth something someday

W-you should get "Magic Pengel" instead, it only got $113 in revenue

tkurc|homethere are more numbers after the 113, warren

W-I know, i just don't know what a "pengel" is... and a magic one sounds dirty

W-OK, I don't particularly feel confident about my picks
W-And haven't had any chance to follow the preseason the last 2 weeks
W-But here goes:
W-Tampa Bay Buccanneers vs. Miami Dolphins
W-Runners Up: AFC: Bills, Raiders, Broncos, Colts. Dark Horse: Ravens
W-Runners Up: NFC: Falcons. Dark Horse: Panthers

tkurcI pick.... the BRONCOS over the RAMS
tkurcNFC Champions (by division): Lions, Rams, Eagles, Bucs
tkurcAFC: Pats, Ravens, Titans, Raiders
tkurcI concur on the dark horses. I think the JAGS are another Dark Horse

tkurc4-12, 5-11, 2-14, 9-7

W-CIN: 5-12, ARI: 2-14, DAL: 3-13, DET: 7-9

tkurcDoman, a fifth-round draft pick last season, lost his battle for the 49ers' third quarterback job to rookie Ken Dorsey
tkurcThe 49ers considered keeping four quarterbacks, but Dorsey's preseason play and strong training camp trumped Doman's experience as the third quarterback last season. Doman had an outstanding training camp while posting better statistics than Dorsey, a seventh-round pick who has exceeded expectations.

tkurcplaxico
tkurcjay riemersma was a former QB

W-other QBs they have besides Maddox is Batch and St. Pierre, both would be better, but they're not "position players" I suppose

W-Vick could be a starting RB for any team in the league...
W-He'd last 0.5 games, but whatever

tkurcMcNabb, McMahon, Plummer...

W-McNair

tkurcBoller is pretty quick too.
